THE BEST OF THE AMERICAN MULTICULTURAL EXPERIENCE
The Mexican band is a spokesperson for the feelings of immigrants in the United States.
The recognition coincides with the 50th anniversary of the band, which recorded its first album in 1972.
Ana Martínez, coordinator of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said in a statement that “many of the tourists who come to Hollywood are Latin American and will be delighted to see this star of Los Huracanes del Norte on our legendary sidewalk”.
Los Huracanes del Norte’s star, awarded by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, is the 2,732nd at the iconic landmark.

These Mexicans earned their place on the Walk in the Recording category with 68 recordings, more than 900 songs and 3 Grammy nominations.
Heraclio “Rocky” García, one of the four founding members of the group, said at the inaugural ceremony “that his dream came true”.

Garcia and his brothers Jesus, Francisco and Jose came to the United States as farm workers, and settled in San Jose, California, where they divided their time between farm work and music.

Los Huracanes del Norte began their musical career in 1972 in the United States, after changing the name of the initial group called Los Cuatro del Norte, originally from the Mexican state of Jalisco.
Their first two albums allowed the group to become known throughout California. Soon after they were able to successfully reach Arizona, New Mexico and Illinois.
Between 2001 and 2003 several new members joined the band. In addition to the four García brothers, musicians Antonio García, José Luis Mejía, Jaime García and Roberto Heraclio García also play in their company.
